Thinking Archives. Archiving Thoughts.

OCTOBER. 2004
SPARWASSER HQ, BERLIN

The project consists of a series of computer collages of an imagined opening at the Sparwasser HQ gallery in Berlin. They were created in advance of Danger Museum’s first actual visit to Berlin, and were based on snapshots and correspondence with the gallery, rumors and the general reputation of Sparwasser HQ in the art world. The result presents the gallery as a poor yet hip urban meeting place.
In the next stage the collages were reenacted as real-life events at Sparwasser HQ – with Danger Museum’s members acting as themselves with art as props – and then photographed. In the photographs, the laidback social moments fall into empty posing.
